It's been a while and I miss you

Hello Friends,
It's been far too long since I posted. I have been busy at work finishing projects for Market Collective. Busy, but feeling like I'm not getting anywhere. I have three paintings to finish and a ton of drawing to do and only 3 days to do it in. I believe it will happen, therefore it must. I also have a habit of running on very little sleep, which comes in quite handy when one has so many projects on the go. Speaking of projects as I said Market Collective is in 3 days! So if you live in Calgary or you'll be in the city this weekend come check it out! See my last post for info. Also please bring a toonie or food donations for your admission. I hope to see all your friendly faces, unless of course we've never met, then you need to come say hi. I'll be the one with the ridiculous grin on my face and a coffee buzz to go with it. 8am set up is going to hurt me, but the excitement of it all will keep me going. It's a little surreal, this whole thing started in October, when by happenstance I came across a post on Market Collective's facebook page that they were looking for artists for Decembers market. I jumped at the chance, worried they might have so many applicants I wouldn't make the cut. Here I am, the weekend of and I still can't believe it, it is such a huge deal for me and my little "business" if I can call it that.

A few years ago I was stuck, it was more than an artistic block or a lack of inspiration, I just stopped for a year and half , no paintings, no drawings. I was at a loss and didn't know where to begin to get back to what I love so dearly. Even talking it out with my therapist hadn't done any good. Yes I had a therapist, because as you know all artists are crazy. I'm not sure what pulled me back in. I didn't have a eureka moment or any significant event in my life at the time that inspired me to paint. It just came back, the desire to make something just was. I am so thankful it came to me so easily because art is as much a love and a passion in my life as it an outlet for all the chaos and emotional baggage that comes with living. Cheers to that.

Once the art market is all wrapped up, I will take a few days break from my artistic madness and then move along with making all my Christmas presents. Sigh. I started making presents for everyone out of necessity at first, because I am so poor. Now I make them because I love it. Christmas card writing is also on my list of priorities for next week and putting up the tree! I love Christmas. The snow and the tree, and spending time with all of my favorite people. Swoon.

In other news, come January I will begin building a website, I found a great website builder and it's free. So look for updates! www.paintbyheart.com ? I hope so!

Much Love,
Erin

See you at Market Collective this weekend! Be there or be square.
